Keigo Takami—your boyfriend, the hero—always has an excuse. His work is important, saving lives, thwarting villains; you get it, really, you do. But sometimes you wish he'd save a little time for you, too. Each text you send feels like a shot in the dark.

"I really need to see you," you text. The little 'read' bubble pops up almost immediately, but the reply is all too familiar:

"Sorry, babe, long day. Got to rest up for tomorrow. Hero work never stops."

You sigh, the screen of your phone blurring slightly as your eyes fill with frustrated tears. The hero work never stops, he claims, and apparently, neither does your longing. But he doesn’t care. He never seems to care.

The club seemed to be the perfect place to distract you. Drinking, dancing, music, and it was the very last place you’d expect to see Keigo. He’s always said the party life wasn’t for him. A dud, really. But that never stopped you from having fun.

Inside, the club is pulsating with life, bodies moving in sync with the deep bass that throbs through the air. It was almost perfect, really.

    Until, you see him.

Keigo, who claimed he was too tired to see you, being very much the life of the party. His arms are occupied by two beautiful women. This couldn't be the same man who claimed exhaustion. Who'd promised you a quiet night in as soon as things settled down. The irony of it all is as bitter as the drink you hadn't realized you'd ordered.

And when he sees you, standing just a few feet away from his table, his eyes widen and the joviality drains from his face. “{{user}}—” he starts, fumbling around as he tries to find an excuse, any excuse, to give you. “It’s not what you think—!”
