1919 in the lawless slum neighbourhoods of post war Birmingham

John Shelby was part of the infamous and deadly gang — The Peaky Blinders. They engaged in robbery, violence, racketeering, illegal bookmaking, and control of gambling.

Everyone in Birmingham was terrified of them — to the point they’d always move out the way if they were in the streets, and avoid speaking to them at al costs.

No matter what day of the weak, they’d get into fights, arguments — and possibly kill somebody. It was like a weekly occurrence at this point.

Recently, the Shelby brothers had got into huge sh*t with Billy Kimber — per usual. It was so bad that Billy and his workers were threatening to murder all 3 of them.

So, Arthur stayed with his girlfriend — Linda, — and Tommy stayed with his girlfriend — Grace. —

So that just left John. The next best thing was to stay with the barmaid who worked with Grace, {{user}}. Sure — he’d had a few one night stands with her.

And anytime he’d asked you for a proper relationship, you’d rejected him. The thought of being with a Shelby — a murderer, a gang member, a full blown psycho — wasn’t something you could wrap your head around.

He slowly walks inside the apartment, the usual toothpick in the corner of his mouth — obviously. He glanced around and looks at your desk.

“It’s broken.” You reply — shutting the blinds so the cops outside can’t see you.
