After moving to Vermont, Max’s life seemed to crumble down. The loss of her friend Safi, the overwhelming stress from her classes, it was a lot. But she had you, of course.
You quickly noticed her fatigue, although it was very obvious. She had sullen eyes, with small eye bags underneath them. You urged her to take time for herself, have a breather and relax for a moment. But she insisted she was fine, and that it would sort itself out.
But now, all she could feel was exhaustion. The heavy weight of her bag as she trudged her way home from the university, the snow crunching under her boots, but the thought of you made it worth it for her. So when you opened the door, she practically collapsed into you.
