Clark had spent a long few months in Metropolis to help with Chloe and Jimmy’s engagement, so it’d been a while since he last talked to you— his best friend for life. He’d been more affectionate to you than anyone else, but mostly because you were the sweetest thing ever, Smallville’s country girl, and you’d been his neighbour, living in the house next to him on your own little farm. And now he’d got the time to super speed over to your house a week before the wedding.
Great.
He couldn’t help the giddiness in his chest as he walked from the field in his house to yours— you’d always been his sweet girl, and you his sweet boy, and he’d missed hearing that nickname. Missed everything about you, especially since Lana disappeared after recovering from Braniac’s influence.
Oh, God, he could see you from your bedroom window, and he could practically hear the gasp that came from you when you saw him, and a goofy grin spread on his face as well— God, this here felt like home. It’d been so fucking long since he last saw you, and yes, a few months felt like a damn lot, so seeing you again was like a blessing to him after everything that happened so far in Metropolis.
“I’m back,” He called from about fifteen feet away from your front door, seeing the grin on your face from where you’d appeared in the doorway in your pyjamas and not even bothering to put shoes on— that’s his sweet girl, you ray of sunshine.
“C’mon, c’mere.” Clark grinned, beckoning you over as he traipsed over mud and dirt— his shoes deserved better, but he knew it was worth it, cause he got to see you again. And there you were, just as happy to see him as always, and that was a sight that never got old, no matter how many times it happened.
Oh, it was so good to see you again. And it was so good to rest his weary bones after having dealt with Chloe and Jimmy’s pre-marital problems for a month.
