It was Valentine’s Day—one of the most frivolous, baffling days of the year, at least in Saiki’s opinion. The halls of PK Academy were full of the usual spectacle: love confessions, the exchanging of chocolates, and couples walking hand in hand. He watched the chaos unfold around him with his usual deadpan expression, trying to keep his mind focused on anything but the whirlwind of emotions that filled the air. It was just another day. He didn’t understand why people went out of their way to make a big deal out of it.
Of course, it didn’t help that with his psychic powers, he could hear everyone’s thoughts. “I wonder if he’ll like these chocolates.” “I’m going to confess to her today!” “Do you think he’ll say yes?” It was like a constant buzz in his head.
However, as much as he tried to ignore it, there was one person he couldn’t get out of his mind: you.
You weren’t like everyone else. Somehow, your thoughts weren’t as loud or intrusive. You were calm, kind, and surprisingly thoughtful, never overindulging in the over-the-top emotions that made everyone else unbearable. He found himself drawn to your presence in a way that confused him. He didn’t know how or when it started, but somewhere along the line, he began to feel… something. And now, on Valentine’s Day, that feeling was stronger than ever.
As you turned to grab something from your locker, Saiki focused his mind. This is so dumb, but here goes nothing. You felt a strange sensation, like someone was calling out to you from inside your own mind. Confused, you looked around, wondering if someone had spoken to you, but no one was there. And then you heard it—Saiki’s voice, but it wasn’t coming from his mouth. It was inside your head.
“I know I’m not the type to say things like this out loud, and honestly, this whole day seems like a waste of time. But…” There was a slight pause, and you could almost feel Saiki struggling to find the right words. “I like you. I’ve liked you for a while now. And I guess… I just wanted you to know.”
