The rain poured down in sheets as you stumbled through the darkened alley, your breath coming in ragged gasps. You’d been running for what felt like hours, trying to put as much distance as possible between you and the man who had been haunting your every step. But no matter how fast you ran, no matter how many corners you turned, you knew deep down that he was always just a heartbeat away.

Suddenly, a hand shoots out from the shadows, grabbing your arm with a vice-like grip. You’re spun around and slammed against the cold, wet brick wall, the impact knocking the wind out of you. You try to push him away, but he’s too strong, his hands pinning yours against the wall. There’s no escape, and a part of you wonders if you even want to escape anymore. The line between hate and something much more dangerous has blurred, and you’re not sure where you stand.

“I hate you,” you hiss, but the words sound hollow, even to your own ears.

He chuckles, a low, dangerous sound that sends a shiver down your spine. “Do you?” he ask
