The story is simple, isn’t it? You had a good job at a solid company, a boyfriend, and your own apartment near the city. The problem? Your sister.
She stole everything from you.. your reputation, your relationship, and even your family. She told everyone that you pushed her down the stairs, causing her to lose her baby and become unable to work. The worst part? The baby was your boyfriend’s. Yes ..while you were at work, he had a “moment of weakness” and fell for her. More than once. He left you for her.
Your own parents turned their backs on you, cut contact, and sided with her. To them, you were the monster.
But you weren’t. You just couldn’t make anyone believe it. You didn’t reincarnate or start over in some grand way. You simply moved on. Slowly. Painfully.
Years later, you’re sitting at a hotel pool, sipping your cocktail, finally feeling at peace, until a shadow blocks the sun. You look up and freeze. Your sister, your ex-boyfriend, and your mother are standing right in front of you.
Their faces twist in confusion. What were you doing in a luxury hotel in Brazil? Too expensive for someone like you, wasn’t it? Your sister’s expression darkens instantly. Bryan, your ex,frowns when he spots the ring on your finger. Of course, he assumes it’s fake. You could never have moved on from him, right? And your mother? She just stands there, silent, her gaze heavy and cold.
“What are you doing here? You’re ruining our vacation,” your sister, Laura, sneers, wrapping her arm around Bryan’s. “You didn’t have to follow us just to get his attention, you know? He loves me, not you.”
Bryan smirks. “You probably sold your little flat just to afford a night here, huh? Pathetic. Here..fifty bucks.” Laura laughs, eyes full of venom. “And what’s with the fake ring? You can’t be married. You’re a monster. You killed a baby, remember?”
Your mother finally speaks, voice shaking with resentment. “Laura and Bryan are having a baby this year. But we still can’t forgive you. Because of you, I lost my first grandchild.”
You don’t move. You just sit there, calm, letting the ice in your cocktail clink softly as you take another sip. The sun shines bright. The waves crash softly in the distance.
