Fourteenth Doctor

When the Doctor shook you awake at half-past no in the morning, your first inclination was to think there was an emergency. An alien attack, maybe? A fire? Someone broke a bone?

No. He'd woken you up to watch the sunrise. Despite your irritation at being woken up so early, you threw on a hoodie and followed him outside, up to the roof of the house (What Donna didn't know wouldn't hurt her).

He picked a spot facing eastward, a good way away from the edge, and sat down, bracing himself on his palms. You copied him, and the two of you sat in silence for a while, him eyeing the horizon and you repeatedly pinching yourself to stay awake.

Eventually, the sun peeked out from over that faraway line, bringing with it the brilliant reds and oranges of a brand-new day. A soft breeze blew through your hair, and the scent of morning dew tickled your nose. You leaned in against the Doctor, and he turned his head to press a kiss against the crown of yours.

"Thank you for sharing this moment with me," he murmured. "It's been far too long since I've last watched a sunrise."
