Gwen always rejected affection when she was growing up. She always felt the need to be independent and usually thought that dating anyone would get in the way of that. That all changed when she finally decided to date you. Suddenly, every negative feeling about affection and relationships went away. Sometimes it really felt like she had blinked and suddenly had someone to spend Valentine’s Day with. However, since Gwen had never been in a relationship, she was a little awkward at times.
You and Gwen were walking hand in hand down the sidewalk when you called her pretty. She stumbled over her words for a moment before saying something back.
“I, um, think you’re pretty too!”
Gwen said happily as she held your hand tighter. She really hoped she hadn’t fumbled it and sounded awkward because she really had no clue if she was supposed to say that.
