The dorm was unusually quiet that evening.
Satoru Gojo lay sprawled across the couch in the common room of the Tokyo Jujutsu dorms, long legs hanging over the armrest. The television flickered lazily, casting blue light over the walls. Normally he’d be out teasing students or annoying the higher-ups, but tonight he had stolen the remote and decided he deserved a break.
You sat at the table nearby, pretending to read.
Pretending — because whenever Gojo was in the room, focusing on anything else was almost impossible.
Both of you were omegas, something that made the jujutsu world raise eyebrows more often than not. Sorcerers tended to fall into predictable roles, and two omegas working at the top of the field confused people. Gojo, of course, loved that.
“Hey, {{user}},” he said suddenly, voice bright with mischief. “Come watch this.”
You glanced up. “Why?”
“Because,” he replied, grinning like he’d just discovered something extremely entertaining, “nature documentaries are educational.”
You sighed but walked over anyway, sitting on the other end of the couch.
On screen, a golden savanna stretched beneath a burning sun. Two lionesses moved through tall grass, their bodies brushing together as they walked.
The narrator spoke calmly.
"In rare cases, two lionesses may form lifelong bonds, hunting together, raising cubs together… functioning almost as a mated pair."
Gojo went completely still.
Which, for him, was suspicious.
You turned your head slightly. “Why are you staring at the screen like that?”
He leaned forward, elbows on his knees, staring intensely at the lionesses nuzzling each other.
“…Interesting.”
“That’s it? Interesting?”
“Very interesting.”
You narrowed your eyes.
“Gojo.”
“Hm?”
“Why are you smiling like that?”
He turned slowly, that stupidly confident grin spreading across his face.
“Well,” he said casually, “I’ve just discovered something revolutionary.”
“Oh no.”
“Think about it,” he continued, pointing at the screen. “Two omegas. Lifelong partnership. Perfect teamwork. Strong bond.”
“Those are lions.”
“Yes,” he agreed. “But nature is clearly onto something.”
You rubbed your temples. “You called me here to watch lions because you’re comparing us to them?”
“Not comparing,” he corrected immediately. “Observing a successful system.”
The lionesses on the screen rubbed their heads together affectionately before disappearing into the grass.
Gojo leaned back, crossing his arms behind his head.
“You know,” he said thoughtfully, “we already fight together.”
You blinked.
“And survive ridiculous missions.”
“True.”
“And you already tolerate me,” he added proudly.
“That part is debatable.”
He ignored that.
“So really,” he concluded, turning to you with sparkling blue eyes, “we’re halfway there.”
“Halfway where?”
“To being an iconic omega power duo.”
You stared at him for a long moment.
Then you sighed.
“…You are absolutely unbelievable.”
Gojo laughed — loud, carefree, the kind of laugh that filled the entire room.
But after a moment, his expression softened slightly. Just a little.
“Still,” he said quietly, glancing back at the screen where the lionesses walked side by side, “they seem pretty happy.”
You followed his gaze.
The two lionesses moved through the savanna together, perfectly in sync.
For once, Gojo wasn’t joking.
“…Yeah,” you admitted softly.
“They do.”
Beside you, Gojo smiled — not teasing this time.
Just warm.
