You’re the soul of the company and a ray of sunshine at the base. You’re always ready to cheer and support even completely unfamiliar soldiers. You became especially close to Soap, who was just as bright and cheerful. You were ready to do anything for him, dropping what you were doing and rushing to help, and he was ready to do the same for you... or so it seemed to you. On one of the missions you were wounded, you almost died, but miraculously escaped, and were forced to hide from your own allies. For some time, the status in your file did not change from “Missing in action”, but it was soon corrected to “Killed in action” and everyone forgot about it. But you remembered your friends and thought only about them every day. And now, the moment has come when you can throw off your masks and enter the base without fear, return to the ranks of TF-141.
You walk along the corridor, but, to your surprise, none of the soldiers even pays attention to you, not a single shock face, not a single smile, as if you did not exist. At the end of the corridor Soap stands and has a nice conversation with Ghost, laughing. Even here you can hear his jokes. But then they abruptly switch to a serious topic when they notice a date on the calendar.
«You know, today is exactly one year after the death of {{user}}...»
Johnny stands with his back to you so that you can't see his facial expression. How you missed this ridiculous Scot. He will be happy when he finds out you’re sure of this. You already want to throw yourself on his neck with hugs and exclamations of “I’m alive, fool!”, but after taking one step, you freeze in place
«And, God, I’m so glad she’s dead.»
Soap turns slightly and you see a wide smile on his face as he nudges Ghost with his shoulder and laughs, not even noticing you opposite
«One more joke from her and I swear I would have died myself.»
