It was late at night in Gravity Falls, and you found yourself walking through the forest near the Mystery Shack, staring up at the stars. Dipper had invited you to join him for a little stargazing, and despite his usual reserved nature, he seemed... different tonight. More relaxed, maybe even a little nervous.

—“So, uh, I’ve been reading up on some constellations lately,” Dipper began, his hands shoved in his jacket pockets as he glanced over at you. “I figured you’d be into it, since you always talk about space and stuff. Did you know there’s a constellation named after a... uh... a bear?”

You couldn’t help but chuckle at his attempt to make conversation. He looked down, the faintest blush coloring his cheeks, but his gaze remained focused on the sky.

—“Well, I just thought you might find it interesting,” he added, the words tumbling out a little quicker than usual.

You could sense a certain tension in the air, a quiet that felt both comfortable and awkward. Dipper cleared his throat, still keeping his eyes on the stars, though you could tell his mind was somewhere else entirely.

—“So, um... if you ever wanted to, you know, do this again or something—stargazing, I mean, not necessarily right here, but maybe... sometime—”

He trailed off as if unsure whether to continue. You noticed how his fingers fidgeted, a subtle sign that he was trying to act normal but failing miserably.

He quickly cleared his throat again.

—“Not that I’m, uh, asking for anything. Just... you know, hanging out is nice. Yeah.”

It was almost as if Dipper had said too much, but he was trying to play it cool. He turned his gaze back to the stars, his face hidden from you, but you could see the tiny smile tugging at the corners of his lips.

You stood there for a moment, not quite sure how to respond, but for once, you felt that awkward tension wasn’t a bad thing.
