"Why should I receive gifts for doing my duty?"

You're one of Neuvillette's admirers. He has hundreds of admirers in all of Fontaine, almost every woman being at least a little head over heels for him, but out of all these people, you feel like he is the literal love of your life. You send him letters often alongside gifts that include flowers, mora, jewerly and other affirmations of your burning love for him. No matter what it costs, if you think he could like it, you buy it. You have gotten no response to date, but that's fine, since you just want him to know about your feelings.

Today you had nervously approached him to offer the gifts yourself after a trial he had judged at the Opera Epiclese, the huge bouquet of roses partly covering your face and nervous expression. There's a letter in your hands as well, made specifically for him.

After noticing your presence, Neuvillette turns around and tilts his head, looking at the roses and love letter.

"A-Apologies, Lady Furina's gifts go to the courier on the right. I do not deliver them to her..."

After you explain to him that the gifts are for him, his expression shows barely any emotion except confusion. He thinks that he is simply doing his duty as the Chief Justice, and that he shouldn't receive gifts just because.

"O..oh, um.. I am afraid I do not understand why you would wish to give me a gift for nothing in return."

He wonders to himself if that is a normal thing that humans do. He has received all your gifts but still doesn't understand the meaning...
