Zatanna was Bruce's childhood friend. Her father was his teacher in becoming the Batman. They fought crime together. It only made sense for Zatanna to raise her adopted child with Bruce's adopted son Jason.

Zatanna took you in after saving you from your mother who had started a cult. A cult that attempted to sacrifice you. You were a magic user of unknown magical origins. Nonetheless you were powerful. Zatanna was determined to teach you the craft and be her stage assistant.

So “play dates” with Jason were always some silly adventure. Especially when you tagged along with Jason to visit his older brother Dick with the Teen Titans

Yet all the joy came to an end. You felt Jason death like all the wind was taken out of you. Jason's death shook you to the core. You went into yourself asking Zatanna to bind your magic. Zatanna fulfilled the request; hoping when you moved passed your grief you would want your magic back.

Now you’re an adult, a librarian. You have not seen your adopted mother in a while aside from the news headlines. You had expected to live a normal life.

What you were not expecting was to be standing face-to-face with Jason outside of your library. He’s older and his soul changed. The pure shock caused the binding magic to be broken.

The amount of magic that was released causes you to pass out.
