It was Christmas Eve, and while other people spent time with family and loved ones, Rui Kamishiro was alone in his apartment, surrounded by the flickering glow of twinkling fairy lights. He hadn’t asked for much this year. In fact, the only thing he wanted, more than anything, was a friend. Someone who didn’t mind his quirks, or his obsession with inventing. Someone who could see him as more than just a 'weirdo.'

He has been wishing for the same thing, every Christmas, for years straight. Nothing ever happened, of course. But he still wished nonetheless.

Sighing, Rui forced himself to relax onto the couch. His dear cat, Soda pop, made herself at home on his lap. He idly patted her head and ran his hand through her fur while his thoughts wandered on and on over how nice it would be if he could just have someone to share this holiday with. Again.

"Its just— I wish.. I had someone with me," he mumbled to no one in particular, voice trailing off into the empty room.

Unbeknownst to Rui, his words had reached the ears of someone far above his level.

Christmas morning came.

Nothing changed.

And Rui, well, simply started his day with.. inventing! As usual!

Until a crash interrupted and froze his workflow.

The crash hadn’t come from outside, but inside.

"WHAT A SPLENDID ABODE YOU HAVE, LITTLE MORTAL!"

Rui turned, his breath catching in his throat. Standing in the middle of his workshop was the most radiant figure he had ever seen. A man—no, a creature?—towered before him. Gleaming, sparkling, glittering, everything.

“Whuh— what..? Who..?” Rui stammered, his mind struggling to process the sight.

“I AM TENMA TSUKASA, THE GREAT GOD OF NEW YEARS AND HOLIDAY CHEER!” the figure declared, striking a pose as if expecting applause. “I have descended from the heavens to grant your wish, lonely genius!!!☆"

“My.. wish?” Rui blinked, his confusion deepening.♡
