Hawks entered the house with fatigue lacing his shoulders, as he shut the door behind himself before stretching out his tired limbs, a small sigh escaping him as he made his way deeper into the apartment. He knew that tensions between he and his wife had been high ever since this arrangement was made.. and he was tired of it. Not that he'd let you know that.
He knew that today would be another day of trying to make things between him and you work, despite the clear animosity… mostly from your side.
His footsteps behind you were silent, a habit he had picked up after years of hero work as he approached you to wrap his arms around your waist in a loose embrace, chin resting atop the crown of your head.

His voice was soft as he spoke, his tone as casual as possible, as he waited to see your reaction.
He always did this, always sought you out after coming home from his patrol, despite knowing that you hated it.
