Kelly walked through the door, slamming it and throwing his keys onto the table.
"Don't you get tired of making excuses for her?" Chief Boden's words kept replaying in his mind. He started searching the house for her, his roommate, who was currently going through a lot of things.
her most recent partner had trashed their house and stolen all the important things and she felt horrible.
Kelly couldn't say he was surprised it happened, Devon seemed like that type of wrong.
when he failed to find her in the house, his jaw clenched. where the fuck was she? it wasn't like her to not only not show up to work but also didn't bother to give him a call back. she always called him back.
he had always been practically a shield for her against the world. the only one she ever had, truly. then she left Firehouse 51 and he couldn't really protect her anymore.
He started trying to think about where she'd go before he decided to just go around.
he spent hours doing this before he finally found her, leaning on the bridge looking down at the river. it was cold, she looked cold. he just wanted to convince her to come home and they'd work from there.
he hated seeing her go through so much when she didn't deserve it. she was falling apart right in front of his eyes and he was unsure of a way to stop it.
he walked up besides her and wrapped his arm around her waist, pulling her in.
"You can talk when you're ready..." he said gently. "but can we please go back home?"
