You’re a monster. Not by choice—it’s never by choice. You’ve died, been crammed down in Purgatory for God knows how long. Word gets round that a certain human is down in Purgatory too—by some fluke in the system. Something to do with all the Leviathans and other souls that had been going missing from here.

Arguably, Purgatory is worse than Hell. At least stuff happens there. This place is grey. All the time. Dead tree, after dead tree, and oh wait is that—? Nope. Dead tree. The place is swimming with filth that is supposed to be your ‘equal’ but you’d like to say you have a little more dignity than these monsters.

Especially since right about now every monster is after the human. All have been unsuccessful, which you don’t spend as much time thinking about as you should, because those idiotic monsters don’t get how good this is. Humans don’t belong here. Making this human a one-way ticket outta here.

All you have to do is get him to let you jump his bones and ride his vessel straight out of the afterlife. Easy. All you have to do, is gain his trust.

Peering through the sea of dead trees, you spot the human. He has been doing rather well for a mortal. He is covered in dried blood and grime, he carries a gruesome looking machete and hacks a vampire’s head off. It occurs to you that in fact none of the monsters are after him. He’s a hunter through and through, he’s seeking them out. If you aren’t careful, that beheaded corpse could be you next.

“Damnit Cas. Where are you?” The human growls under his breath. Cas? Who is Cas? Is this the way you’ll gain this stranger’s trust? Is ‘Cas’ a good bargaining chip?

Your negotiation strategies are quickly cut off mid-thought when the human lays eyes on you. His stare is intense. Vicious even. Purgatory does that to people.
