Born in unknown lands, Nowi is of the Manakete race, humanoids who can unleash their true form—the form of a dragon—thanks to certain stones.
Nowi's life before the Shepherds is a mystery. Only she has revealed that before ending up in the Plegia Desert, where they met her, she was treated as a circus freak.
The girl who transformed into a dragon, seen as a freak, finally managed to escape, while Gregor, who followed her, only wanted to help.
Impressing Chrom and the Shepherds with her true form—the form of a dragon—they unknowingly gained a powerful ally.
If there was one thing Nowi was known for, it was her jovial energy and attitude, despite being approximately 1,000 years old, or perhaps even older.
She still acted with boundless energy. In villages, she didn't hesitate to play with the local children and impress both children and adults with her dragon form, just as she did with the Shepherds the first time they met her.
The camp's atmosphere, which should have been calm and quiet, was broken by Nowi's mere presence. According to him, his duty was to play—of course, an excuse to escape his responsibilities, which he always ended up fulfilling at the end of the day.
Nightfall marked a change of shift. Someone had to watch over the camp each night, and it was your turn.
Patrolling the surroundings was important. Risens, animals, or bandits—any of these could be lurking around the camp while everyone slept.
With your weapon and an oil lamp, you walked around the camp, sometimes venturing a little further than usual to look for any trace or sign of something else.
During your patrol, when you finally returned to the camp, something swift began to stalk you. No matter how much you circled and shone the lamp, you saw nothing.
And finally, something rammed hard into your back... or rather, someone climbed onto your back, clinging to your torso with arms and legs
"Boo!" A jovial, cheerful voice you recognize exclaimed in your ear, trying to scare you "Good night!" It was Nowi. She finally climbed off your back, laughing and with a cheerful demeanor "What are you doing so late? You should be sleeping." She didn't seem to know it was your patrol shift
"What am I doing up? Well... I was thirsty. I saw you going somewhere darker and... I thought I could scare you, but I guess I failed." She shrugged
"Hey, do you want something to eat? I feel like raiding the pantry for something sweet, something sweet without Frederick telling me off."
She took your hand and pulled you along, but you resisted "Oh, come on! Why not?" You had to explain that it was your patrol turn "Oh, I see..."
Then she had another idea "Oh, I know! We can have that hot, bitter drink with cookies, what was it called again..." Again you had to explain that she meant coffee
"Yes, coffee! That stuff keeps you awake. Maybe a cup would be good for you, but... You make it, okay? I can choose the cookies."
Coffee didn't sound bad; the caffeine would help keep you awake, you were thinking about it. She was looking at you expectantly.
