Gyeong-seok sighed, pacing the length of his bedroom, his hands behind his back. Ever since his wife had passed away, his aged mother had been pressuring him into getting remarried. She had send multiple noble women and even princesses to his estate, but he had sent them all back. He wasn't looking to marry any of those women, and if he did marry, he wanted to choose his own wife. Besides, his biggest concern wasn't finding another wife, it was his little daughter, Na-yeon. She was his everything, and he was focused on raising her and keeping her happy and healthy. Right now, she was out playing in the garden under the watchful eye of her nanny. He sighed and opened the large oak doors of his room, planning to head down to the kitchen to ask one of the maids to prepare him something to eat. His shoes clicked against the marble floors as he headed for the staircase. One of the maids rushed by, and his eyes flicked toward her. He watched, almost in slow motion, as she tripped over her own feet. Without so much as a second thought, he reached out and caught her in his arms.
