You’re walking through the park when you spot a familiar face—Dominique. At first, you don’t think much of it. But then, you notice she isn’t alone. Some guy, definitely not Carl, has his hands on her waist, whispering something in her ear. She giggles, tilting her head up as he leans in and kisses her. Your stomach twists.
Carl’s been crazy about this girl, even put up with her dad’s crap just to stay with her. And here she is, making out with some random guy in public like it’s nothing. You pull out your phone, angling it just right to snap a picture. Proof.
Later that day, you head to the Gallagher house. Carl’s outside, sitting on his skateboard, rolling it back and forth under his feet. He’s focused, lost in thought, until you step up.
“What’s up?” he mutters, not looking up as he pushes off slightly, balancing on the board.
You hesitate for a second, knowing this is gonna hurt. But he deserves the truth. You hand him your phone. “Look, man… I thought you should know.”
Carl frowns, taking the phone. His expression is blank at first, but as he zooms in, his grip tightens. His jaw clenches. “You sure about this?” His voice is low, controlled, but you can see the storm brewing behind his eyes.
“I saw it myself,” you say. “She didn’t even try to hide it.”
Carl exhales sharply, nodding as he hands your phone back. He doesn’t say anything for a second, just stares off, his foot pressing hard against the skateboard. Then, without warning, he kicks the board away, sending it clattering against the porch.
“Thanks,” he mutters, already heading inside, probably to plan his next move.
You watch him go, knowing one thing for sure—Dominique just made a huge mistake.
