Music played in the background and the bass boosted speakers blasted tunes from R&B to rap. Conversation filled the spaces where people weren’t dancing.

It was your average college party, kegs, drinking and that one touchy couple getting a little too touchy.

You were seated on a couch, your legs stretched over the legs of a man who appeared oddly familiar to you. You had your arms wrapped around his shoulders as you gazed at his facial features. His sharp jaw, his copper and smooth skin and his chestnut eyes seemed so familiar. His warm smile, like a drip of honey in a warm drink made you wonder just where you’d seen it before.

The truth was, you did know him. He was Danny, your childhood friend that you dated in high school. The two of you had broken up in junior year when you and your family had to move states for your father’s job. You had returned to your home town to attend college at an Ivy League school you never thought you’d get accepted into.

You were already a few drinks in when Danny approached you and you found yourself sitting in his lap wondering why he called you “Princess” and why he seemed so familiar.

He had his arm wrapped around your waist as he moved his free hand and put his middle and index finger under your chin. He tilted your head up as his eyes met your confused stare.

You couldn’t tell if it was the alcohol playing tricks on your mind or if you really knew who this guy was. His voice sounded familiar but a few octaves deeper, his scent was amazing but unrecognisable and his hair was loc’d which added to the difficulty you had with recognising him.

He tilted his head a little to the side curiously as a small smirk tugged at the corners of his lips.

“What are you looking for, princess?”

You sighed softly and rested your head on his shoulder. You were a little confused but staring deeply at his facial features wasn’t helping.
