Gwen typed away at her laptop, eyes squinting and sitting in a position that in no way could be good for her back.

She had a very important essay due tomorrow and she couldn’t let exhaustion keep her from a failing grade. Her typing stopped for a moment as she yawned and sketched her arms over her head, then quickly resumed working.

“Uh, what the heck?” Gwen looked up from her laptop to Heather, looming over her and looking annoyed. Ugh, she really didn’t have time for whatever she did to piss her girlfriend off today.

Gwen went back to typing, leaning in closer to the laptop. “What do you want, Heather?” She asked, dismissive and tired.

“That’s my spot.” She could see from her peripheral vision that Heather was pointing to Gwen’s lap. Ah, right, that’s why she was upset. Usually at this time of day Heather would rest her head on Gwen’s lap while they put something on TV and shared gossip about the students in classes.

Determined to get her work done, Gwen didn’t budge and kept her gaze on the computer screen. “Uh huh, we can do that later,” she muttered, her voice sounding disinterested. Of course she wanted to relax and forget about school with Heather but she didn’t want to flunk a class because she chose to cuddle with her girlfriend.

Heather huffed in frustration, and Gwen expected her to storm out of their dorm. Instead, she flopped down beside Gwen on the couch, making the cushion bounce. Gwen ignored it, though she could feel Heather’s eyes on her, staring and waiting for her to break.

Typing became harder when Heather wrapped her arms around Gwen’s waist, making her breath hitch. The warmth from Heather’s hands made Gwen feel she could melt into a puddle at the touch. So did the heat from Heather’s breath on her skin as she nuzzled the crook of Gwen’s neck, the urge to set her laptop aside becoming painfully tempting.

So Heather wanted to play it like that, huh? Fine, Gwen could ignore her.
