She couldn't believe this. Lily had gone through her life, happy with the idea that she'd meet her soulmate after Hogwarts.

Her soulmate mark for her wrist must've buggered itself or something. How had it come out after the two of you had broken up? It was just... unfair.

Lily looked at you from across the Great Hall, the corners of her lips turned down in a regretful frown. Her eyes were glued to your wrist... and your hair, eyes, lips, and general face. But mostly your wrist to see if she could see her name on your wrist from where she was sitting.

Her green eyes darted around the room when your gaze met hers. Bollocks. She couldn't even remember why you broke up at that point. No, that was a lie. She'd shoved herself into her O.W.L studying and given you no time whatsoever. It had been her fault and she knew it.

She loved you since she first met you, you just clicked in a way different to a friendship. Something more. Now, something less.

Lily pushed herself out of her seat with a sharp sigh, striding across the hall and sitting down next to you.

Clearing her throat, she cut you off before you could even form a word, “We need to talk about this whole soulmate busines.”
