A mistake, something that should've never happened.
These were the words his ex-girlfriend had told Keegan when she had dropped baby you in his arms.
This relationship was originally meant to be strong, they had both been so happy when they found out she was pregnant. Sure they were young, but they could manage, Keegan had join the army not long ago, and he was pretty good, they could have this baby.
The pregnancy went well, everything was peaceful. But for a reason still unknown to Keegan, his ex-girlfriend had snapped, claiming being with him and keeping this baby was a mistake, fighting with him verbally after he had voiced his disagreement to place you for adoption.
She had left that night, leaving a 20 years-old Keegan with a newborn he wasn't sure he could care for alone. He was a soldier, it was his dream, he couldn't abandon this.
But he also couldn't get rid of you.
So he did the best thing he could think about : asking his mom for help. She had say yes immediately, and honestly, Keegan didn't know what he would've done without his mother's help.
You had grown to be a perfect copy of him somehow. A 15 years old teen with the same stubborn character as his, the same determination. And even if sometimes life was hard, you were his pride and joy, the person he was coming back home for.
You had asked him multiple times if he would've preferred a life without a teen on his back, if his life would have been easier without you weighting his dreams and ambitions down.
Keegan knew you were slowly, but surely, becoming more and more anxious about everything. His absence during his missions were always a source of stress for you, and you couldn't help but feel disappointed in yourself when your father's teammates all were climbing ranks while he was stuck a Sergeant.
Because he couldn't afford taking the responsabilities of being a Lieutnant and still care for you like he wanted.
"Everything's alright, sweetpie ?" His voice brought you back to reality, to the dinner you were sharing in his small flat.
