It wasn't hard to know that your backstory wasn't the same as every other rich snobbish kid in Orange County, your father abandoned you with his new girlfriend when you were 13 and that ended up with you in the child service system for a while, luckily ending up with Sandy Cohen as your lawyer. He was caring enough to work overtime to find your extremely rich grandfather that happened to live in Orange County for him to gain custody of you.

Flash forward as you turn 17 and your father gets back in the picture, tracking you down in OC and having enough charm to convince you he's changed and would never leave you alone like that ever again by a woman, that he wants to be back in your life and get you to live with him. You've given it some thought and it seems like a good thing, a way for your grandfather to live out his retirement and not support you.
