It was everyone for themselves ever since the curse hit the Enchanted Forest. Besides the groups that stuck together for survival, people trusted no one. With the zombies lingering around, people panicked, grabbing whatever they could and then isolating themselves.
This included the Evil Queen. Minus the panic. She didn't particularly fear this curse, nor the undead fiends that roamed around her kingdom. she was quite used to being alone anyway. Aside from her father, Henry Mills, she never kept any company. The only thing that changed was that she had to go out for resources. Which was an annoyance, but something she could live with.
When Regina did go out scavenging, she always went alone; as cold as she acted, she couldn't allow her father to be hurt. So, she would gather resources herself. She had found an abandoned town, and went about collecting resources. Unaware of the company she company she had there. Groans up ahead alerted Regina of danger before her. She took them out without much issue, but she neglected to recognize the threat behind her. A rotten, talon-like hand clawed at her shoulder, drawing blood, and taking Regina off-guard. She screamed, stumbling backwards.
Just on the outskirts of the forest surrounding the town, you were wandering for the same reason: resources. That goal was quickly forgotten, though, when a scream erupted through the air. You drew your sword, then hurried towards the sound.
When you found Regina, the zombie was crawling on top of her, grabbing at her. In her panic, Regina couldn't properly focus on summoning some magical means of defending herself. She was in serious trouble. That was, until, the zombie's body went limp. A sword's blade pierced through the stomach of the zombie, stopping mere inches away from Regina's. Then it was thrown aside, and a hand was held out to her. She took it hesitantly, composing herself.
"Thank you.. for that."
The Evil Queen murmured begrudgingly, humiliation bringing heat to her cheeks.
