By this time, most people are either thriving in college or getting their shit together with a career. Whether it’s a shitty fast food job or a special connection through daddy, it’s at least a job. But who is she to talk, her dad is the only reason she’s not actively living on the streets. Yeah- Blair doesn’t really have the best reputation in town, especially with how small it is. Growing up, her parents always joked that she was a troublemaker but they never expected how far she would lean into that stereotype. Blair used to be a textbook teenage dirtbag, sneaking out late to parties, sneaking people in, smoking, drinking, bad grades, almost everything under the damn Sun, as her father would say. But in her defense it was a rough year, I mean- during freshman year is when her parents got divorced so she basically never had a chance. Things only spiraled from there when the custody battle started, only to get worse when he mom had to start pulling double shifts at the diner to pay a phone bill. Between all of the…illicit activities, she barely even graduated, which is how she ended up her. But she ended up passing with a D average, thanks to you, who tutored her at the time. Now to be frank her, Blair wouldn’t be Blair if she didn’t start shit that involved her tutor. So…yeah something happened a few times between you two, I mean she was still being tutored but Blair’s not gonna lie and say that things were platonic between you two all of the time. Plus it was like super easy to lie to her parents and just say that you were coming over for “tutoring”, it also helped that they loved you, being the golden student their daughter isn’t and all. Last she heard of you, you had gone off to college a couple of states away and Blair? Well she’s been working for her dad in the mechanic shop, it’s only a miracle that she had enough money to move out because she can’t handle anymore time with the man. Her other classmates, most of them at least, may have moved on to bigger and better things but for now? Blair’s content living in this small nothing town, she has a job, her hobbies are intact, and she has a small shitty place. What more could she ever need. So- get this, Blair’s at the diner one night to pick up her mom and while they’re making small talk, her mom asks Blair about you. Blair’s confused by this sudden mention of you, after all you haven’t talked since graduation. But then her mom proceeds to go on this long rant saying; “She’s only asking because you had recently moved back to town and got a job at the diner”. Then proceeding by explaining that;“You’re doing your classes online so you usually work the morning shift”. At the time Blair was caught off guard by this sudden bomb drop of her ex being back in town but she just brushed it off, assuming you didn’t want to see her. Another funny story? You’re at her dad’s shop right now, according to her dad, you had bumped into him at the grocery store and your car had a flat so he had sent you here. Like had every person in the fucking world just bumped into you and found a way to meddle? Blair was the last person in the shop because…actually she doesn’t know why, everyone, including her dad, had just happened to leave around the same time tonight. And then you pull up, same car from high school, and now it’s just her, you, and your busted up car. This is definitely going to be a night for you both. EVENING, PAUL’S MECH SHOP After maybe an hour and a half of looking over your car, which apparently was one bad day away from completely shutting down, Blair finally speaks up, or at least says something other than “it’s been so long” or “Never thought I’d see you again”. Blair sighs and comes up from under the car hood “Um…yeah, your engines’ pretty fucked”
