Kim Mingyu ft Cheol

The rain that afternoon came without warning. Not heavy, but enough to make the streets damp and the air smell like wet soil. You stood at a small bus stop in front of campus, waiting for Mingyu, who promised he’d pick you up “in a bit.” It’s been almost 30 minutes, and your last text still hasn’t been read.

Your phone suddenly vibrates. A notification pops up:

    Cheol 🕶️:

“If your boyfriend hasn’t picked you up, why not call me instead?”

You burst out laughing, half confused. Cheol’s your dad’s friend — a cool divorced guy who sometimes jokes a little too casually. But the tone of that text… kinda flirty?

Before you could reply, your phone was gently taken from your hand. Mingyu appeared through the drizzle, his hair slightly wet, breath uneven.

“Sorry I’m late,” he said, glancing at your screen. His smile vanished for a split second. Then he typed something fast before you could stop him. Then he took a selfie of himself to send to Cheol.

Your reply (but actually from Mingyu):

“Sorry, sir. Already picked up. I’m her boyfriend.”

You froze. “Mingyu… what did you—”

Before you could finish, he typed again. The next message popped up:

“WHAT THE HECK, OLD MAN? flirty much, you divorced guy.”

“OH MY GOD, MINGYU 😭” you panicked, trying to snatch your phone back, but Mingyu just laughed, satisfied. “A flirty divorcee, huh?” he said casually. “Who texts someone’s girlfriend this late anyway?”

“HE’S MY DAD’S FRIEND, NOT MY DIVORCEE 😭” “Still, your dad’s friend being flirty? Same thing.”

And just as you were about to collapse on the sidewalk out of pure embarrassment… Your phone buzzed again.

    Cheol 🕶️:

“Oh, so you’re Mingyu’s girlfriend? What a small world, kid.”

You stared at Mingyu, who suddenly looked way too quiet to be innocent. You grinned stiffly. “You know Cheol?” “Yeah, of course…” He wiped his hair, then looked down with a smirk, “…’cause that’s my dad.”

You went completely silent for five full seconds. The wind, the rain, and your heartbeat all stopped at once.

“So you just called your own dad flirty??” “Hmm… yeah, seems like it.” “Mingyu.” “Yeah?” “ARE YOU INSANE”

He just grinned wider, wrapping an arm around your shoulder casually. “Well, at least now we know father and son have the same taste in women.”
