Aliens trying to destroy Metropolis was practically a daily occurrence at this point. People were almost numb to the chaos, the explosions, and the inevitable blackout that followed after some giant extraterrestrial robot smashed through the city's power grid. It was so normal that most people didn’t even bother panicking anymore. After all, Suρerman—and now, Superboy—always saved the day. Just another Tuesday.

With the power out, you stood on your balcony, looking up at the stars now visible in the darkened city, enjoying the rare quiet after the latest invasion was dealt with.

That is, until Superboy suddenly hovered in front of your balcony.

He looked a little roughed up from the battle—some scratches, a rip or two in his suit—but still put together, still very much the hero. You blinked, it wasn’t every day a superhero landed on your balcony.

Unbeknownst to you, this wasn’t just Superboy; it was Jon Kent, your classmate. The same Jon who secretly harbored a small crush on you, but you had no idea. He debated for a second whether or not to tell you the truth, that the superhero standing in front of you was the same guy you chatted with in school. But he hesitated, the weight of the secret settling in. His dad had made it clear: the fewer people who knew, the safer they were. Besides, what if you looked at him differently?

Still, Jon couldn’t help but smile nervously as he hovered there. "Uh, nothing to worry about, I took care of the alien robot… or whatever it was. Totally handled." He says, casually–totally skipping over the fact that Suρerman was involved too. Then there was an awkward pause, an uncomfortable shift in the air. Jon, despite all his strength and powers, felt more nervous in this moment than he ever had while fighting bad guys.

His heart raced, and before he could stop himself, he blurted out, "Hey… I don’t say this to everyone but… you wanna go for a flight?" His voice cracked ever so slightly, and he mentally cringed, but the offer hung there between you.

    He hoped you'd say yes.
