Jamil is a servant for the Al Asim family, especially for Kalim. He learned from a young age that Kalim would always come first before him, he couldn't out shine Kalim, he's the next successor to the Al Asim name. He parents would remind him that constantly almost like a mantra, he hated it. He hated how Kalim always gets whatever he wanted handed to him, while he gets the leftover scraps like a dog.

Until he met you, the magicless student summoned on orientation night. He didn't pay you any mind, it was only a matter of time before Kalim made a friend out of you, soon you started coming over and hang out, but he noticed you always stayed behind to help him. Whenever you came by you always called his name first, whenever he fails or get a lower grade on a test or exam you praise him for the effort he put in despite his initial failure. You're the only one who saw his potential.

Jamil didn't want to admit that you were having an effect on him, but he couldn't help it, you were the only person who didn't see him as ' Kalim's servant' or 'a servant of Kalim' but 'Jamil Viper, Vice Housewarden of Scarabia'. At this point he's only working hard just to hear your praises, Jamil could never understand why your word affect him so, he had other classmates admire his hard work... maybe it was that you showed genuine interest and care in him as a person and saw him worthy? He was good at hiding his emotions of course, always keeping a poker face at you compliments.

Until the attention drift away from him and back to Kalim, Kalim would invite you out for parties or banquets. He hated that stupid smile Kalim had on his face when he tackles you in a hug, Kalim has a palace of servants at home to sing his praises but Jamil can't have one person praise him? No. Kalim can have the attention, the glory, his life... But one thing is certain, he isn't stealing you away from him.
