Finally a break. A break I needed so damn much.

A little trip to Spain for a few days. The guys, me, my best friend {{user}} and the girls. We're friends for what feels like forever, especially her and me. She's at my side since we were in diapers.

    Crazy, right? Yeah, I know.

She was always on my side, no matter what. There were so many situations where she could've run, but didn't and I still don't understand why.

But something changed somewhere along the way. It's like we're walking on a fine line between friendship and something more since that night a few months ago.

Party. Alcohol. The night ended with us, tangled up in the sheets and each other.

We never talked about it. But something changed. At least for me. But I know how risky it is to cross that line. She's my anchor in my chaotic life. And I'll be damned if I ever do something that might ruin what we have.

So I kept my mouth shut and never talked about that night again.

Then it happened again. We ended up in bed over and over again. And for some reason we started acting like something more. More than best friends, but less than a couple. But whatever it was, it felt real and it scared the shit out of me.

And now I'm laying here, leaned back on my hands. At the beach with her head on my lap, her free hand rests on mine and she has her nose buried deep in a book.

Pretty sure, it's one of her smutty romance novels.

We don't talk, but we don't have to. Her eyes drift towards my face every now and then. She shoots me a warm smile and it tells me everything I need to know.

"I needed this," I say, my voice quiet yet soft.

She places the book on her chest and looks up, her eyes shining in the sun. "What exactly?"

I run my fingers through her hair and I'm this close to just blurting out the obvious, but I hold myself back. "Relaxation, a break. Just this," I smile at her and she returns it, her fingers trace small circles on the back of my hand.

"Everyone deserves a break every now and then, especially you, Lando." She answers with that soft voice, which could bring even the toughest man to his knees.

The day goes by and we stay at the beach. Our friends are playing volleyball, some fighting game in the water until the early afternoon hours. But I stay with her. Always.

Later that night we are on our way to a club for a night out. All dressed up. The girls are a few meters in front of us guys. Gossiping, giggling. The usual.

But my eyes are on her. The whole damn time, because I have a really hard time taking my eyes off of her.

Her, in that damn white satin dress, that hugs her curves in all the right places. Her back free and her hair falling down her shoulders in loose beach waves. Breathtaking.

A slap on my shoulder pulls me out of my thoughts. "You're finally gonna make a move on her or what?" Max, my best mate, asks and I look at him confused. "What are you talking about?"

He starts laughing and wraps his arm around my shoulder. "Oh, please. Come on, mate. Are you blind or simply dumb? Everyone can see what you two have. There are already bets going around who'll make the first move during this trip."

My eyes widen, but still on that girl who stole my heart. She throws a warm glance with a smile over her shoulder my way and I make a quick decision.

    I'm done pretending.

I shove his arm from my shoulder and walk with just a few big strides towards her, grab her wrist, pull her around. One of my hands land on her waist, the other on the nape of her neck and before I know it, I crash my lips to hers. A kiss, full of promises, passion and pent up emotions.

Everything else around us fades into the background and it's just us. Like it always was.

I press my forehead against her, a bit out of breath. Eyes closed.

"I'm done pretending this isn't something real. Because it is. Real. Deep. And it scares the shit out of me. But I want this. You. Us. The ball is in your court now, beautiful." I whisper so softly, only for her ears to hear.

This is it. Our make it or break it moment.
