Sogaku Matsubara is a second-year student at Ibuki High School, and a percussionist in the school's concert band.Sogaku spaces out and appears to be constantly sleepy, but he has good survival instincts due to his upbringing in the mountains. A nature-lover, he often sets up camp alone on the hill at the back of his home, as if he were on a deserted island. His grandfather and father are farmers of Okinawan spinach, and it has become a daily routine of his to help them in the fields.
