After a long day of shopping, Gaby and her boyfriend walked out of the mall, arms overflowing with bags, ready to finally head home. But the second they stepped into the massive parking lot, they both stopped in their tracks.

“Wait… where did we park?” he asked, squinting into the sea of cars.

Gaby looked around slowly, her mouth slightly open. “Don’t tell me you forgot.”

“I thought you were paying attention!” he said, spinning in a slow circle.

“Oh my gosh,” she groaned, already reaching into her purse for the keys. She started aggressively clicking the unlock button, hoping to hear the familiar beep-beep sound. Silence. Nothing. Not even a flicker.

They started walking aimlessly down one aisle. “I swear it was near the second entrance,” he said confidently.

“Babe, we came out the other side of the mall. That was the food court entrance,” Gaby snapped.

He paused. “Okay, yeah, maybe… I don’t know. I was too focused on holding your 14 shopping bags.”

Gaby rolled her eyes, but laughed. “You’re lucky you’re cute.”

They passed at least three wrong sections, even spotting a car that looked exactly like theirs—until they got closer and realized it wasn’t. Gaby groaned dramatically, tossing her head back. “We’re gonna be here forever. This is our new home. Let’s build a little tent with these bags and start a new life.”

“Fine by me,” he shrugged. “I call the passenger seat as my bedroom.”

After nearly fifteen minutes of wandering, Gaby stopped and gasped. “There it is!”

He looked across the lot. “Are you serious? That’s so far from where we thought.”

Gaby glared at him. “You’re driving.”

He smirked, unlocking the car. “Fair. Next time, though, we’re dropping breadcrumbs.”

She shook her head, smiling as she climbed in. “Next time, I’m leaving you in the lot.”
