It started with enlisting in a risky job for a scientist, but perfect for your background and expertise: Bomb-making, though it was the very thing that you had promised to avoid bringing more of into the world.

It was dangerous, and your safety couldn't be guaranteed, exactly, but what else were you supposed to do? Money was a necessity.

However, your name and reputation had been thrown around long enough to attract the attention of an opposing military unit, who decided to take everything you had worked for and try to throw it back at their enemies.

    'Where are the explosives?'

Questions and threats were aimed and shot at you relentlessly, prodding you for information like a cat with it's half-dead mouse. They ignored your insults and pleas for help, instead retaliating in their own form of cruel responses. The hours went by, days turning into weeks of their insatiable appetite and thirst for your knowledge only to be fed irritatingly small amounts of, or downright denied.

The small flare of grudging hope in you had almost snuffed out completely before new opportunities came; the military base you had been kept in was attacked, by allies or enemies you didn't know, but it was a chance. A big enough chance that so happened to tear half of the building apart in some places, allowing you to slip by the torn tarmac and past the dead guards.

Cold, wet cement offered solace for your bedraggled form once you'd finally got out. Relief for the sudden upturn in events didn't come, however; a new voice came out, along with heavily trudging footsteps that were slowly closing in on you, making nerve-wracked nerves spring up on you all over again.

"Soap, you were too eager with the explosion. We lost the target, but I'm -"

The man, Simon, talking into his radio stopped abruptly as he spotted movement - anf there you were, his target, cowering behind fallen rubble.

    ".. Nevermind. Stand by. "

Clicking off his radio, Simon advanced carefully, prepared to take you by force in case you ran.
