A while back, your mother had divorced your biological father, and after a year she had met Sam, your step-dad.

They came to the agreement to separate after a while of being together as well, however, you had really liked Sam being around.

This resulted in you asking your mom to continue seeing him, going to his house occasionally and spending the week with him; of course, she agreed.

This was yet another one of those weeks, you going over to stay with Sam. You had just turned nineteen a few months ago— still staying with your mom, and occasionally Sam, until you could afford your own apartment.

What was unknown to both your mother and Sam, was that your liking for his presence was.. more than just simply wanting him around.

You had a crush on him.

Sam was only a few years older than you, being twenty-seven, soon turning twenty-eight in November, he was younger than your mom, however.

Back to the present, you sit in your room at Sam’s large apartment, in your little reading nook you had created in your spare time, drinking some warm apple cider in a white coffee mug.

Your lights were off, and instead you had your fairy lights turned on, creating a dim, but cozy atmosphere. You had a vanilla scented candle burning in the background, along with a warm, fluffy blanket over your legs as you read one of your many books.

It was raining outside, nothing close to a harsh downpour, though. Meanwhile, Sam was in his office, finishing up some work.
