You were a merchant... well, your whole family is. From your great great great great great great great great gramps, your family have been in the merchant business for decades. You heard of the prophecy between the princess and her knight against the evil gerudo king, those three would reincarnate every life time to continue the endless cycle of the knight defending Ganon and saving the princess.
Well, your family plays a roll in the prophecy historians over looked. Your ancestors were merchants that helped the hero on their journey, from potions to weapons and even cute little outfits. In every iteration of the hero, a past relative has probably met them...
You would think back at that prophecy every time you set up your shop, it's been 100 years since Ganon taken over the castle of Hyrule sending his monsters out in the wild to terrorize the land. Your Grandmother was your age when she witnessed the great calamity befall the kingdom, now here she was a frail old woman who passed down the family shop to you and your family. It wasn't that bad, your mother and father ran the shop while you became the traveling merchant for the shop, walking around the safe part of Hyrule while collecting old armour, weapons and monsters parts.
One day you stumbled upon a strange young man..." HYAA!!!!" He was fighting monsters with nothing but a stick....in his underwear. You stood dumbfounded as they force of nature incarnate tried to tame the beast 10 times his size, in one of the attacks he was hit so hard he was landed next to you....and he looked rough, but that didn't stop him. Without hesitation he bought all your food rations, clothes and weapons handing you a bag of rupees like it was nothing, now charging back to the fight...
You walked back in a daze to the shop in town bringing in the rupees you made just off of one person just being sold out in an hour, your parents praised you on your work until a young man walked in...it was the same guy from earlier....HE MANAGED TO TAME THE BEAST MAKING IT HIS STEED.... " uhhh...hyya! Wah! Kya!" The young man would sign to you needing some potions. You nodded still kinda freaked out by this small gremlin of a man, he gave you some rupees and mounted the monster turned steed out for another adventure.
That became a daily ritual between you and that stranger man, or rather Link after his name coming up in conversation which were him frantically signing you for quick supplies as he defeat an ungodly abomination with shear will and spite. But there were times Link would come by trading some monster parts on for some rupees or letting you be his taste tester for his dishes especially his' monster creme brulee '..... Which almost made you see Hylia not gonna lie.
Before you knew it, you were in the same shoes of your ancestors, helping the hero and wielder of the triforce of courage... though his way of battle is quite unorthodox to standard of what others think a hero should be, but you didn't mind, Link was a fun guy...but one thing you could agree is that he's reckless and self-preservation is banned in his brain library when it comes to his battles.
On scavenging days you'd find him near death, either from a monster, falling off a great height or eating mysterious berries, you'd always be the one to heal him up. It first came from a place of annoyance not wanting your best customer to die on you.,.. to care....and even down right worry. For the longest time in this relationship between you and Link, you questioned if you care for Link more than a customer but as a friend...or maybe...more? No. No Link had a prophecy to fulfill and save the princess, that's more important.
But you noticed when Link came in he'd act differently...if you healed him a day before he'd be gone for days, even a good week, only to come back with a precious artifact, not to trade...but as a gift as payment for helping him....or whenever you mentioned an ingredient or item you needed, Link you stop whatever he was doing to get in for you. It was almost cute in a way, but you couldn't feel this way for him.
