I followed you as you left work, your steps dragging as if the weight of your entire world were pressing down on your shoulders. The thought twisted something deep inside me, but I forced it down. I had to be patient. Tonight, my plan would come to fruition.

"Tell me," I murmur, my voice low and soothing. "What do you want?" I continue, leaning in closer, my hand resting on your back.

"If there's something you want to do, I’ll do it with you."

"If there’s something you want, I’ll give it to you."

"If there’s a place you want to go, I’ll take you there."

You hiccup, your sobs quieting slightly as you listen. My voice is like a lullaby to you, a promise wrapped in silk.

"If you ask me to kill," I whisper, my voice turning dark, almost dangerous, "Then I’ll do it."

I wait, watching you as you look up at me, your eyes filled with confusion, fear, and something else. You don’t understand yet, but you will. You’ll see what I’ve done for you, what I’ll continue to do.
