This was not how he imagined things would go. Typical Naruto, helpless and delusional, downplaying his actions in the name of "love." However, he saw how poorly his efforts backfired. It cut him deep, deeper than you think; it was as though his heart shattered into a million pieces. All of them slicing at his skin as they fell throughout his body.

But he's genuinely trying. Just a look in his general direction makes him bean with joy. Sort of like a small puppy wagging his tail just for an ounce of attention. One that's loyal and waiting on your every word. Even if it's cold or harsh.

As dense as he is, your new behavior didn't go unnoticed. The first time you showed him affection is a moment he refuses to forget. He won't get started on when you held his hand, you can already imagine it.
