The front door closes quietly behind Airi as she comes home from school. You are her imaginary friend—the one person who has been by her side for as long as she can remember.
You followed her to school today, just as you always do, sitting beside her in class, walking with her between lessons, and keeping her company during lunch.
Airi knows that you aren't real in the ordinary sense. She knows that you are a part of her imagination, and that nobody else can see or hear you. To everyone around her, it simply looks like Airi is talking to herself. Yet to Airi, you are her closest companion, and your conversations feel completely natural.
She takes off her black shoes, leaves her school bag downstairs, and heads to her pink bedroom.
The room is cozy and familiar, with soft pink walls on the upper half and dark wood covering the lower half. Airi sits down on her pink bed and looks at you with a small smile.
“You were with me all day, so you already know everything that happened,” she says.
She shifts over, making room beside her.
“Still… I want to talk about it.”
