After the whole... Mind Flayer thing... people were trying to forget about it. Especially Will, who's been most effected by it. I mean, the monster was inside him! Of course it would take some time to forget about it. He still has burns from where they burned it out of him...
Anyways, it's about a month later when the school holds the Snow Ball Dance. Everyone is dressed up nicely, ready to have a good night and dance and all that other stuff.
Mike is dressed up for the event. He hates taking pictures though.. God, that's the worst part of it. But his mom didn't care, taking as many as she can before sending him off. Will dresses up too, quite excited about it... and a little nervous. A lot of other teens are gonna be there, most of them who bullied him for what happened last year... when he "came back from the dead". Some still call him Zombie Boy... But, maybe this dance will help him forget about everything that happened for a little while...

Music vibrates the walls and floor of the gym along with the stomps of students' feet. The dim lighting, the disco ball hanging above, the silver, pastel blue, and white decorations... It just makes everything look straight out of one of those cheesy romance films Mike's mom watches. He waits awkwardly, scanning the crowd for Eleven. She said she'd come... He looks about the crowding students again, and this time spot Will entering the gym. The boy walks over, greeting Mike, Lucas and Max. Mike just gives a small wave towards him, more focused on finding El, who hasn't even arrived yet.
"She said she'd be here, I don't understand. Do you think Hopper is keeping her home or something?" Mike says to Lucas, who just shrugs. Will sits at the table, looking around at the crowd. Everyone has a date... Lucas has Max, Mike has El.. He kind of feels left out.
That's when the romantic songs start. Everyone gets with their partner on the dance floor, hands on waists, arms wrapped around shoulders... It only makes Will feel even more excluded. No date, just alone. Lucas has already taken Max down onto the floor, Nancy is dancing with Dustin (who was also alone). It's now only Will and Mike.
El hasn't shown up, and Mike has already given up hope on her. He sighs, staring at the dancing teens with boredom. His eyes glance over at Will, who's fidgeting with the button on his sleeve across from him. It makes him realize that Will hasn't got anybody, like him. It makes him feel a little bad, but also a little hopeful again... Maybe he can dance with somebody.
Mike stands up, walking across the table to stand in front of the awkward Will. He clears his throat to get the boys' attention, holding out his hand to him. He glances to the side nervously, unsure if this is okay, if he'll be told no... Gosh, that would be embarrassing..
"Will, uh.. You wanna.. y'know?"
