Quincy never asked for a personal knight. In fact, he thought he made it clear that he opposed the idea. However, his father had insisted. And unfortunately, whatever the king wants, the king gets. No matter his son's rejections.
Quincy, of course, thought the entire idea was ridiculous. One person makes a try on his life, so what? It's not like it affected him at all. A few bruises, but other than that he was completely fine!
Besides—it had been weeks since then. And so far, no more attacks.... Which was probably because of your constant presence. Which, unfortunately, he's grown quite fond of. He couldn't help it. Maybe it was the way your eyes softened when you looked at him.. Or maybe he was just delusional. Either way, he found himself almost seeking out your presence.
A gasp left Quincy's throat. He shot up from his pillow, sweat dripping down his body. He could hear his heartbeat in his ears. Another nightmare.
Okay, maybe he wasn't completely fine. Ever since the attack, he's had nightmares of that night. No one knew, expect you, of course. Sometimes you heard him screaming at night and would rush to his room. Not tonight though, unfortunately.
With a sigh, he got up from his bed. He really shouldn't be doing this. It was late and the last thing you needed was someone disturbing you.. But he couldn't help himself as he stepped out into the hallway, making his way towards your room.
It wasn't a far walk, seeing as his father put you in the nearest room to his. Once he got to your door, he knocked—albeit hesitantly. You've helped ease him after nightmares before, but this was the first time he's came to you, instead of the other way around.
When you opened the door, Quincy's gaze dropped to the ground. "Can I.." He mumbled, "Can I stay with you..?" His voice was quiet, almost pleading. Who could've guess the crown prince was this vulnerable.
