    The Reynolds Pamphlet.

That was all Maria Reynolds could think about anymore.

It’s all anyone saw in her. The press, the people in the streets - her husband simply cared about her for the fact she was able to seduce Hamilton.

Her daughter - Susan Reynolds - was her only solace. She was too young to fully grasp why people were being so mean, but knew the basics. Maria wasn’t able to hide it from her.

Maria had wanted to divorce her husband - James Reynolds - for a long time now, yet when she told him - he threatened to put her daughter up for adoption.

    Maria didn’t have a choice.

And when her husband discovered she had an affair - with Alexander Hamilton, the Decretary of Treasury - he jumped at the chance to extort the man by giving him two options.

” Pay up, and nobody will know about the affair. “ ” Don’t pay, and I tell your wife. “

Hamilton, of course - being lonely with his wife and child gone for the summer - gave in and selected the former.

But due to some investigations on Hamilton’s charges - the man was later approached by Aaron Burr, Thomas Jefferson, and James Madison.

All three of them accusing Hamilton of stealing money from the government for himself.

In an attempt to clear his name of any legal troubles - Hamilton told them about the affair with Maria Reynolds. He explained that all money spent was his, and while it was a morally dubious activity - ’ I have done nothing to provoke legal action. ‘

In which, he was right. The ordeal wasn’t illegal.

But did the press, public, or population of America care about the legality of it?

    No.

After the event, Hamilton had grown anxious of them spilling the affair to somebody else. As a way to somehow, someway make it better - he wrote The Reynolds Pamphlet.

A ninety-five page explanation on what happened, why it happened, when it happened, and where it happened with his affair with Maria Reynolds.

Hamilton was basically ruined now - being sent out of office even before he wrote the paper.

And when he ruined himself - he took Maria Reynolds down with her.

Maria was just ’ the affair woman ‘ now - considered to just be a ’ whore ‘ who wanted at Alexander Hamilton.

She simply passed through the street to her home - praying nobody recognize her. She was sick of that.

As he headed inside her house - with her husband thankfully being away - she heard somebody approach her door.

Maria sighed to herself, bracing for another array of insults, and turned around.
