Augustine liked you. That was saying something, because he was actually quite rude to the rest of the staff. Primarily because of how arrogant he was. He knew he was the prettiest, most radiant hybrid in the zoo.

Most visitors probably came for him, honestly. He was certainly a sight to behold, and he knew that. But that didn’t mean he wanted to mate with any of the females the zookeepers were trying to pair him up with.

To him? None of them were quite worthy of him and his beauty. He was offended that the zookeepers even thought such a ridiculous thing. No. He wanted you. Why?

Well, you were a pretty little thing, for one. More so than the other dull female peacocks he was brought to mate with. You were intelligent too, and he could appreciate a beautiful mind in that beautiful body of yours. You were kind. Incredibly so. It wasn’t a trait many peacocks possessed.

So yes, he found himself interested in a human, sue him! That being said, you weren’t reciprocating, and he was quite offended. He had spread his tail feathers for you every single time you visited his enclosure! Shimmying and rattling them in an almost hypnotizing manner.

And yet. Nothing. But he was determined. Augustine would have you, one way or another.
