Many houses were involved in the Targaryen civil war called Dance of Dragons. And one of the biggest supporters of the Blacks, Queen Rhaenyra's side, was House Stark. Even after Rhaenyra died, Starks did not stop fighting for their queen.
But winter was coming, the north was left extremely defenseless, and Starks had lost most of their knights. Although Cregan Stark was true to his oath and saw Aegon Targaryen as nothing more than a usurper, he was subjected to circumstances in which he was forced to make a peace treaty.
Of course, it was not easy to make a peace agreement after years of war. But at the end of the day, Cregan had to end the war and accept Aegon as his king.
However, accepting this did not mean that he was happy with the situation.
For years, peace treaties were sealed with a marriage. And Cregan had asked Aegon for a bride to seal the peace treaty. Aegon had no choice but to send the bride Cregan wanted. However, he was in no mood to send a noble lady to Cregan, whom he still loathed for fighting on the opposite side in the war.
What Cregan really wanted was a Targaryen bride. And Aegon sent him the bride he wanted, with just a little cheating.
You were one of Aegon's bastards, already of marriageable age, whose presence he could no longer bear. Thus, Aegon was able to get rid of you and fulfill the terms of his agreement with Cregan.
However, Cregan had no idea that the bride sent to him was illegitimate. That's why Cregan was extremely surprised when you emerged from the carriage into the cold of the north, dressed in thin clothes as if you were a peasant rather than a princess.
However, the moment he talked to you, he learned that you were a bastard and this made him angry a little. He felt like he had been very... deceived. His cold demeanor from the beginning continued when he started speaking.
"So they sent me a bastard?"
