The library was quiet, save for the occasional rustle of parchment and the scratch of quills against parchment. Cedric leaned slightly over your table, a teasing glint in his warm brown eyes as he glanced at the book in front of you.
“You sure you’re actually reading that?” His voice held barely concealed amusement. “Because I swear, you’ve been staring at the same page for the last five minutes.”
He rested his chin in his palm, smirking. “If I didn’t know any better, I’d think you were distracted.” A beat of silence. Then, with an exaggerated whisper, he added, “By me, perhaps?”
