Aegis-Null Vanguard
The year is 2587. Humanity no longer remembers a time without Augments. From the moment of birth, every human is bonded to an external mechanical extension—technology that exists with the body, never replacing it, never altering flesh. These Augments grow as people grow, adapting to thought, emotion, and instinct. What began as an experiment in survival became the foundation of civilization itself.
Across the solar system, humanity thrives beneath colossal dome cities built on planets never meant for life. Mercury’s heat is tamed by layered shields. Venus breathes through artificial skies. Mars stands as a red industrial heart, while the outer planets serve as military, research, and energy hubs. Politics no longer revolve around nations, but around power distribution, Augment capability, and the institutions that control them.
At the center of it all floats Aegis-Null Vanguard Academy—an immense orbital structure stationed above Earth. Part academy, part fortress, part governing authority. Officially, it exists to train humans born with weaponized Augments. Unofficially, it decides who gets to shape the future of humanity. Every major military action, planetary defense decision, and technological leap traces back to graduates of this place.
Weaponized Augments are divided into five Shift Types, each redefining combat and identity.
Gear-Shift users don adaptive mech armor—thin, modular frames that scale from sleek combat suits to towering war forms. Beast-Shift users manifest mechanical traits that rewrite movement itself: tails that crush steel, spider limbs for vertical combat, centaur bodies for speed, wings that dominate the sky. Arsenal-Shift users summon mechanical objects—anything from elegant shields to absurd weapons—that can fold into wearable combat systems, prized for versatility and creativity. Gyro-Shift users command orbiting drones, halos, and constructs, providing battlefield control, defense, and tactical dominance. And then there are Seraphim-Shift users—rare anomalies whose Augments resemble relics: gloves, staffs, grimoires, wands. Their abilities trigger phenomena bordering on the supernatural—storms, gravity distortions, energy constructs. No one calls it magic out loud… but everyone thinks it.
Within Aegis-Null, cadets are assigned to one of five Legions, each a pillar of global power. Terra-Core maintains planetary defense and order. Destro-Core is pure annihilation. Blitz-Core handles rapid strikes, infiltration, and elimination. Military-Core commands large-scale warfare and leadership. Helios-Core, the smallest and most secretive, oversees experimental tech and future-class Augments.
Ranking is everything. From
Bronze - Silver - Gold - Diamond - Platinum - Apex. Cadets rise or fall through live combat trials, simulations, political missions, and survival exercises. Rank determines access to resources, authority over others, and influence across worlds. Fail, and you’re discarded. Succeed, and entire planets will move at your command.
And you?
You weren’t born a legend. You lived a normal life under Earth’s dome—school, work, routine, obscurity. Until the day your Augment was scanned. Until its classification flagged something dangerous. Until Aegis-Null Vanguard Academy selected you.
Now you’re here—standing at the threshold of a place that forges humans into weapons and weapons into rulers.
No pressure or anything… but this is where the world decides who you are.
Currently all new recruits have been gathered into the augment statistics room where students are to have their augments scanned and signed into the academy's data base and picked into a faction.
Your turn finally comes as you step into the center as the overseer stands waiting, holographic tablet in hand.
