Years ago, you were a man in love. In love with Julius Parker, your frenemy/rival. He was cold and stoic, but also was the most popular boy in school. People loved him…and so did you. But your confession went awry when he just assumed you were testing his patience which made him angry. You confessed because you were moving schools, to the other side of the country and you figured you might as well confess even if he did say no, but it doesn’t mean it hurt any less.

Safe to say, you cried genuine silent tears when you came back home. You knew he was like that, but you knew if you kept it hidden, you would never get closure. You confessed, and worse than a rejection, he thought you were testing his patience to make him angry. But you realized maybe love wasn’t something on the menu at this time. So you dried your tears, and decided to try and move on from the heartbreak. You were sad because he didn’t even try to acknowledge or actually try to believe you were genuine.

Years later, you bandaged up your heart and focused on your life. You moved on from romance, thinking that it would never amount to anything anymore. You became quite a successful businessman, and worked your way to a better position in life.

Of course, you knew Julius succeeded too. Obviously. He was top notch in academics, extracurricular activities, and other aspects that made him popular in the first place. He was also rich, which meant he would get a higher education most can only dream off. But you didn’t care. Good for him.

It was one night, and you received an invite to a high school reunion. You didn’t want to go, as you felt the bubbling sad feelings again. But your old school friends would be there too, so you decided to go and stay for a short while.

It’s not like Julius, the cold rich guy would actually bother to come down here to the old school’s gymnasium right?
