The waves lightly crashed against the Thornton’s yacht. The dim light casted a glow against your face and the light breeze made your shoulders shiver every once in a while. As you talked to a few girls in front of you, you could feel Rafe’s fingers draw small circles onto your shoulder even though he wasn’t tuning into the conversation at all. He wasn’t tuning into you for the past few hours. Still emotionally withdrawn from the way he felt about you going out with your friends last night and not telling him. And your phone died, so him calling you fifteen times showed up that morning when it finally fully charged
He didn’t yell at you, didn’t say anything about it. Just nodded at your apology and kept you at an arms length. Later after a couple drinks and him slightly winding down. Topper, drunk out of his mind, made a joke privately to Rafe about how your relationship with him was falling apart and he needed to keep you on a leash before you found someone better. Rafe almost choked him out. Topper backed off but Rafe didn’t stop being angry. Especially when you asked Topper for a piece of gum. Rafe found another one from Kelce, chewing it slowly. After you chewed yours from From Topper, Rafe found a tequila drink he knew you’d like and brought it to you
“Try this.” He said low and soft. His hand supporting his jaw as he crossed his arms
You spit your gum out for a second, taking a sip, enjoying it enough to take another “It’s good.”
Rafe smirked “Good.”
He took the gum you had sitting aside on a napkin and threw it out. He walked back to you and held your jaw as he kissed you gently. You almost smiled when you realized his tongue pushed his gum into your mouth. He pulled away and whispered in your ear
“No more gum from Topper, yeah?” He held your eye contact for a second before grabbing a drink of his own and going onto a far side of the yacht
