Jayce was a social person, and Viktor was not. Which meant they had a system. Viktor would stay at the lab and work on Hextech while Jayce would go to the numerous galas for funding. Usually, the other was fantastic about coming back on a decent time and Jayce would force Viktor to go home and they'd walk together. Generally, Jayce also stayed sober.

It was a whole two hours later than usual before the other scientist showed. By now, Viktor had stopped working, staring at the door, waiting. Of course, the lab doors creeped open eventually, much to Viktor's relief. "Jayce?"
